High Roller

The High Roller is the 167-metre observation wheel at the LINQ, one of the tallest in the world, turning one full revolution in thirty minutes. Each cabin holds forty people and some sell drinks on the way round.

Overview

It opened in 2014 as the anchor of a pedestrian promenade cut between two older casinos, which is a more interesting piece of planning than the wheel itself — the LINQ turned a service alley into the Strip’s only real street for walking. From the top the Strip reads as a single line of towers with desert on both sides, which no ground-level view conveys. Night rides show the lighting; daytime rides show the geography.

Highlights

Ride after dark for the lights and before dinner for the queue. Tickets are cheaper online and cheapest off-peak in the afternoon. The promenade below is free, open late and lined with bars, which is the better part of the visit for many.
