Overview
The beach was a quiet resort until the 1990s; the skyline behind it, including the 411-metre LCT tower, went up in two decades and is now the picture of Busan. Sand is replenished and the beach is groomed nightly. Off season it is a wide empty strand with a coastal walk at each end — east to Dongbaek Island, west to the old Songjeong railway line, now a rail bike and a walking path along the water.
Highlights
Swim in July and August if you want the parasols and the crowd; come in May or September for the same sea and none of it. The Blueline Park rail bike runs the old coastal railway from Mipo to Songjeong and is the best two hours on this coast. Fish restaurants behind the beach sell by weight from tanks; the price per kilo is posted at the door.
