Overview
Gaudí kept the structure and changed everything a person touches: he widened the light well and graded its tiles from dark blue at the top to white at the bottom so that light falls evenly on every floor, and shaped the window openings to the same logic. Almost nothing in the building is straight. The roof is read as a dragon’s back with Saint George’s cross planted in it, though Gaudí left no note saying so.
Highlights
The audio guide uses augmented reality and is unusually good at showing what the rooms held when a family lived here. Go for the first slot or the last: the noble floor is small and fills. The neighbouring Casa Amatller and Casa Lleó Morera complete the block known as the apple of discord, three architects competing on one street front.
